Wine is bottled poetry - Anonymous Last weekend I had the opportunity to taste some of the finest wines across 8 countries and over a 100 labels to choose from, each known as one of the best, expensive and unique. And I bet you would never find most of these brands across commercial liquor stores in our city. This event was hosted at the Oberoi hotel in Bengaluru in association with La Cave Fine wine spirits.
I had booked my passport for a special tasting of 10 wines amidst a beautiful spring set up at the lawns in Oberoi , paired with some great Tapas.
Scroll through this post for what I could capture of this wonderful one of its kind event in Bangalore.
The Oberoi's touch of warmth, elegance and hospitality was felt in the set up all through , as we were greeted by the staff, expat representatives from the wine labels and of course some splendid Tapas to pair with your drink.
All glassware served as a part of the wine tasting experience was sponsored by Riedel.
List of 100 wines that were available for tasting included :

Chef Ahit Raman had prepared a delectable range of Tapas food that could be paired with some of the wines.
This one was my personal favourite - button mushrooms tossed in olive oil and simple herb seasonings. The stall also had some oysters that paired well with champagne, single origin olive oils, hummus and more.
Now lets talk about the star of this event - Wine!! The wines on display & tasting were from France, Italy, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina and South Africa.
I personally enjoyed the wines from France and Italy, here are the clicks of the one's I got to taste.
The Penfold, Italian and French stalls had expats each representing a country/region and were wine sommeliers, specially flown in for this event. While pouring the wine for tasting or as you choose one - the sommelier would help you understand the grape type, flavours on the nose & tongue and its vintage. This would help you choose the right one for tasting, basis your personal preference of course.
Penfolds Shiraz 2013
Regular visits were paid to this stall :)
For a wine lover like me, this event was perfect. It had a beautiful set up, some of the best wine labels to choose from (although we had a wine sommelier who helped me shorten down the list), was less crowded considering the exclusivity and I could take my own sweet time to savour each and every poison on display. Comparing notes and flavors, discussing which one to taste next and more.
Cheers to the good life!!
